Gasket Replacement Process

Please note: All garments must be laundered before shipping or drop off.  Garments that are NOT laundered prior to shipping will not be repaired and will be returned as is at your expense.

Step 1: Assessment & Removal

We begin by inspecting your drysuit or drytop to assess the condition of the existing gaskets and determine the proper replacement size. If the gaskets are damaged or brittle, they are carefully removed using precise cutting tools to avoid damaging the surrounding fabric or seams.

Step 2: Surface Preparation

Once the old gasket is removed, we thoroughly clean the mating surface of the garment using isopropyl alcohol or a similar solvent. This ensures that any dirt, oils, or adhesive residue is eliminated, providing a clean bond for the new gasket.

Step 3: Sizing & Positioning

We match your suit with the correct size latex neck or wrist gasket, then stretch it onto a form or cone that mimics the size and shape of your drysuit opening. This ensures even pressure and accurate alignment when bonding the gasket to the suit.

Step 4: Adhesive Application

A strong, flexible adhesive—typically Aquaseal—is applied to both the gasket and the suit. We allow appropriate tack time before positioning and pressing the gasket into place, ensuring full contact and a secure bond.

Step 5: Curing

Once in place, the gasket is clamped or secured for even pressure and left to cure for a minimum of 12–24 hours, depending on conditions and adhesive used. This step is crucial for long-term durability and waterproofing.

Step 6: Quality Check & Trimming

After curing, the new gasket is inspected for bond integrity, alignment, and flexibility.
